Boat D&d Map Algebra Help On A Study Guide? Please?

Algebra help on a study guide? Please? - boat d&d map

I finished up the last 4 questions that I had problems to solve:

To solve (this work of fractions of the way)
1) 2x/x-3 + 1/x- 3 = -6 / x ^ 2.9

2) F = k / D dD determination

3) A boat is 7 h on calm water, it takes longer, 20 miles downstream to go to River 50 miles. To determine the current speed. (the answer is 3 km / h, but do not understand how this response) was

4) A man can paint a room in your home, work alone, in 5 hours. His wife can do the work in 4 hours. How long does it take to paint the room if they work together? (the answer is 2 2 / 9 hours, but getting to like this answer?)

Thank you for your help, really appreciate it:)

1) He places a high value and less on the first question on the report of the 2nd, but I suppose it is a positive sign. If the factor ratio of 3, is taken (3 x) (x-3). This is the common denominator for the problem, and now multiply each term for him, to simplify all denominators in the question and solve for X. My answers are to eliminate x =- 3 x = -1 / 2. See for yourself.

2) I do not understand what you ask, you can not help.

3) I put a relationship dist. Upstream / dist. downstream.
The ratio is 20:50, which only has a fraction is 2 / 5 = 0.4
Since this ratio multiplied by the speed of the boat and got an answer of 2.8 km / h, about 3 miles per hour I think, as you call it into question, as a never before.

4) Let x be the time to paint the house. You need to find the rhythm of the speed with which everyone can paint a part of the house in 1 hour.
House Paint = It's in 5 hours, so that 1 / 5 hours per house
Women = house paint in 4 hours, so that 1 / 4 hours back home

(MaleRate x time) + (female rate x time) = 1 Painted House
1/5x + 1/4x = 1
To solve the rest.
